Santa Monica, CA, October 20, 2011 – It was officially announced today that factory Audi DTM driver Katherine Legge has signed Drive Motorsports International, one of the premier motorsports marketing agencies in the US as her sponsorship management agency.
DMI will support Katherine in sponsorship targeting and development, business development, market research, creative ideation, strategy and client management as she transitions to IndyCar for 2012.
“Among Motorsports Agencies we strive to be different”, says Jim Hauck, VP, Partner Development and company point for Legge. “While sponsor deals will always be part of what we do, we look at opportunities from a Brand perspective. As a result of this approach, Drive Motorsports International chooses to work with select “jewel properties” – those drivers and teams that can transcend Motorsports to become personalities, delivering major brand recognition and the best ROI for clients.”
Enter Katherine Legge, perhaps the most famous female driver in Britain. “It was less than 30 seconds into our first conversation when I knew I wanted to work with Katherine,” said Hauck. “We know she has skills. Look at her resume. And she gets it . . . she’s willing to really work on her sponsors’ behalf. Any brand that comes on board will be glad they chose to support her. Katherine’s more than a driver. She’s a celebrity. My goal is to help secure dollars for her to drive full time in IndyCar while providing sponsors and partners a very attractive package overall. Katherine Legge just might be the first woman to win a Major Series Championship! She the next big thing! ”
About Katherine Legge – Born in Great Britain, Katherine is the first woman driver to win a major open wheel race in North America, topping the podium 3 times in the Toyota Atlantic Championship (2005). Legge became the first woman to compete full time in the Champ Car World Series, becoming a fan favorite in the process.
Katherine returned to Europe after the 2006 season and continued her success with a full test in Formula One and three years as an Audi factory driver in the DTM, top touring car series in the world. Legge looks to become Racing’s first woman to not only win on a regular basis, but to be the first woman to win the Izod Indycar Championship.
